I’ve done many things, and I hope to continue to serve you in Des Moines.
I’m an award winning journalist with a passion for my family, my community, and music. Many of you may have seen me on TV the past decade in Eastern Iowa, waking up at 2 a.m. to help bring the news of the day (and sometimes some levity) to thousands watching. I’m originally from West Des Moines, and went out west to the University of Southern California for my B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. I kept playing music all through college, something that has kept me grounded and allowed me my own personal respite.
When I had the opportunity to move back to Iowa, it was an easy decision to make; this is the place I want to live my life and raise my family.
I love my family. My husband, Matt, is a partner with Elliott Hartman Insurance Agency in Waterloo. We met in 2005 at my cousin’s wedding, and the rest is history. “Fur baby” Bogey came 4 days after our wedding in 2008. Our son Maxwell (Max) was born in 2011, followed by Jackson (Jax) in 2013.
I am probably happiest while serving my community. Whether I was organizing volunteers, making phone calls, recruiting donors, or hosting, I have truly enjoyed every minute of service. I am on the board of the March of Dimes, and Healing Our Heroes, a Veteran’s organization. I’m also helping with an ongoing project at the Cedar Rapids History Center.
We currently attend Antioch Christian Church in Marion.
